Connect your device to your computer and start MyDrive Connect. Log in with your TomTom account if prompted, and wait until your device is turned on. Once your device is connected, MyDrive Connect checks for updates and syncs any changes from your device. Click View Updates to manage your content.

TomTom publishes four new map releases per year. Your current map version can tell you if your map is up-to-date. There is a free trial period for each new user to our app. At the beginning you're asked to enter your payment details, but your account is only charged at the end of the trial period. It is not charged if you cancel the trial. Subscriptions renew automatically.
Make sure you are using the latest version of MyDrive Connect. Make sure your navigation device is connected to MyDrive Connect. Make sure there is a stable Internet connection. We highly recommend using a network (Ethernet) cable to make a direct connection between your computer and the Internet modem.
TomTom and Garmin require you to download programs to your PC or Mac, and these will periodically look for updates and alert you when a new one's available. Once an update has been found and you've downloaded it, you'll need to connect your sat nav to your computer.
As mentioned above, TomTom GO downloads maps and can work offline. But if a user opens an app without an internet connection, it takes quite a long to start (or even doesn't start).
Important : Downloading a map can take up to several hours, depending on your internet connection speed and the size of the map you are downloading. We advise that you turn off any "Stand-by" and/or "Hibernation" modes on your computer to prevent any interruption of the map download process.

We've been able to continuously improve our maps and software for the past 12 years for TomTom devices. However, over time and due to the available resources on some older devices they are no longer capable of running the latest software and maps.

It has become clear that some of our older generation devices do not have sufficient resources to function to our latest standards. Therefore, the TomTom VIO device will no longer be supported and the TomTom VIO mobile app will be removed from the App Store and Google Play by the 31st of January 2022.
