If your navigation device came with a map update service included in the price, you can download 4 or more full updates of your map every year for the life of your product. Connect your TomTom device to your computer and switch it on.Wait for TomTom HOME to start.If HOME does not automatically check for updates, click Update my device in the HOME menu. Connect your device to your computer and start MyDrive Connect. Log in with your TomTom account if prompted, and wait until your device is turned on. Once your device is connected, MyDrive Connect checks for updates and syncs any changes from your device. Click View Updates to manage your content.
If you have an active subscription to map updates or TomTom services, you will continue receiving those until the subscription runs out. You will not receive new software updates. Your device will continue to function as it does now, but your map will become out-of-date and as such navigation will be less accurate.
TomTom publishes four new map releases per year. Your current map version can tell you if your map is up-to-date. See the FAQ Check map and application version for the instructions to find the current map version on your navigation device. The version of the map is listed next to the name of the Map: 'Europe' v1000.

Software updates - no additional cost

TomTom and Garmin require you to download programs to your PC or Mac, and these will periodically look for updates and alert you when a new one's available. Once an update has been found and you've downloaded it, you'll need to connect your sat nav to your computer.
It has become clear that some of our older generation devices do not have sufficient resources to function to our latest standards. Therefore, the TomTom VIO device will no longer be supported and the TomTom VIO mobile app will be removed from the App Store and Google Play by the 31st of January 2022.

Donate your old technology
Donate any of your old technology such as cameras, Sat-Navs, Ipods, MP3 players, games consoles, games & accessories. You can do this through the Recycling Project sacks.
Make sure MyDrive Connect is allowed access to the Internet by the security software. Firewalls, antivirus scanners and pop-up blockers can also interfere with a download. It may be necessary to configure your firewall and router to allow MyDrive Connect full access to the Internet.

If TomTom Traffic or LIVE Services aren't working on your navigation device, try the following. Make sure that you're in a country with TomTom Services coverage. Your device should be fully charged before checking your connection. A low battery may prevent your device from receiving TomTom Services.
Sign in to MyDrive Connect using your email address and password. Click on “Update” below “My Updates and New Items.” MyDrive Connect will download and install the latest software updates on your TomTom. Wait for installation to complete.
